Welcome to the new 2026–27 school year. We are thrilled to open our doors once again and welcome you back as we continue our learning journey. We hope you all had a wonderful, adventure-filled summer and enjoyed the World Cup held in our country. This year, we are kicking off our soccer season earlier than usual and we want to use our experience and knowledge to lead our team through another epic chapter, the kind only this school can deliver. The season runs from September 16 to October 14.

Mr. Carlos will be representing the Anwatin Soccer program at the Open House on September 3 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM to answer questions and guide families through the participation process and transportation details. It is extremely important to come to the school that day to get the required physical exam, which the school is providing for families. If you do not get the physical exam that day, you will have to arrange it through your own clinics or other providers at your own expense.

The first match of the competition is on September 16. The sooner we prepare, the better we will perform. Thank you very much.

Dear Parents and Students,

I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful summer with family and friends! It is hard to believe the 2026–2027 school year is right around the corner. I am thrilled to welcome both our new and returning students for another great year.

Whether you are joining Minneapolis Public Schools for the first time or returning to our community, welcome to the Phoenix Family! We encourage every student and parent to get involved and make the most of their time while here.

Over the summer, our teachers, support staff, and administrators have been working hard preparing for the upcoming year. We will continue to focus on strengthening our instructional practices and deepening our positive connections with the students and their families.

To keep our students focused and engaged, parents, we need your support in reinforcing the school’s impactful habits. We ask all students to be kind to one another, attend class on time and ready to learn, stay focused on their academics, and take pride in caring for our school community.

Over the last two years, Anwatin Middle School has seen a significant decrease in cell phone use in the building and technology violations. We will continue this practice for the upcoming school year.

Cells phones are not allowed during the school day. We strongly encourage students to leave their devices at home. Any student who brings a phone to school must turn it off and keep it stored in their locker or inside a Yondr security pouch until dismissal of school.

We are looking forward to seeing you all very soon at the Open House on September 3rd from 4:00p.m-6:00pm. This will be a great opportunity for you and your child to get their questions answered regarding their schedule, meeting their teachers and administration.
